Day of Silence.

Note Reads as Follows:

Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans gender people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today.

This year is the 11th national Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is a student led protest against harassment demonstrated towards homosexual, bisexual, transgender, and supporting people. It is not only for people of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community to participate in, and it is encouraged that those who oppose harassment towards all sexual orientations join us in the Day of Silence. 69% of LGBT students under the age of 19 reported experiencing harassment by peers, family members, faculty, and strangers. Take a stand and give your silence to demonstrate the silence those of the LGBT and supporting community endure for the fear of being harassed, abused, or killed. To have to keep your sexuality, something that plays one of the key roles in our student lives, silent in fear is tormenting. Please show your support by staying silent for the school day. It will be tough, but hopefully you'll imagine how hard it is to stay silent for a lifetime is.

fuck yes!
i'm in the gsa at my school,and we do this every year. but this year.... our principal wouldn't let us because we have state testing and he thought it would disturb some people and hurt their test scores. whatever.

I'm participating in my GSA's Day of Silence. The school I attend is the only high school in my county with a GSA.

Really? wow... Im not sure how many are in my city but im sure that there's at least one more school in my city that has one. :D and good for you! :#1:
